Weddings al Fresco

What doesn't stop during a pandemic? Love. People who love each other want to get married, and there are lots of ways to do it safely. And beautifully! This intimate outdoor affair made my heart sing for so many reasons!

This wedding was super special because it was entirely a family affair! The bride's mother and her (five!) sisters covered everything from hosting the lovely getting ready location, to walking her down the aisle, to officiating the ceremony, and hosting the elegant poolside reception.

And what a lovely reception it was! A collection of cut crystal and blush ceramic bud vases were filled with white and blush blooms and placed amongst petite arrangements in gray stone pots. These, along with a scattering of crystal votives, were set atop blush velvet and taffeta dressed estate tables amidst the delicacy of lit tapers, which made for a truly delightful setting!

What I'd love couples to know, is this... Just because your plans have changed, just because your original vision can't happen, your guests may be fewer and in many cases only your family, this doesn't mean your wedding will be less. What I've witnessed time after time during this season of altered plans, is that weddings are more. More meaningful, more personal, more poignant. Dare I say, more beautiful.

And what I ask of engaged couples is this... be open. Be open to new and wonderful possibilities, be open to letting go of what was and saying hello to what is. Be open to embracing the fact that it's really just about the two of you, moving forward in life together, hand-in-hand, heart-to-heart.

Anything else is just icing on the (wedding) cake!
